Ski Ability
This trip is open to all abilities, from high intermediate to the more advanced. With two hosts, Jem Rose and Warwick Pickering, the group can be split to allow those who wish to enjoy some of the more gnarly off-piste slopes, guided by Sonnie and Chance from Twin Peaks, and those who prefer the longer lunches.
Terrain and Location
The area offers an extremely varied terrain, catering to everyone from beginners with gentle runs to extreme off-piste enthusiasts. The resort provides abundant options for skiers of all levels, and for the more advanced participants, we have an exciting plan to venture to the backside of the mountain, fully guided. Prepare to experience the joys of the backcountry in the surrounding area!
Typical weather
The weather in early January can be very cold; however, the sun will still shine brightly. January often brings the best conditions, especially after a huge dump of snow, creating cold, light, powdery snow followed by blue skies the following day. This is commonly referred to as the perfect Bluebird day! The longer days in March see warmer days, but rest assured the last few seasons have experienced some great late season dumps.
APRES SKI
The après-ski scene here is electrifying, offering an unforgettable experience with live music and DJ sets that keep the energy flowing long after the slopes have closed. This vibrant village is dotted with super cool bars and restaurants, each offering its own unique charm and atmosphere.
Start your evening at the wine bar, where you can indulge your taste buds with a tantalizing selection of wines and local cheeses. For those who love live music and late-night revelry, The White Lounge is the place to be, offering a lively atmosphere that draws in both locals and visitors. Our favorite hangout, La Coeur, is a must for après-ski drinks, attracting ski guides and mountain professionals from all around. If you’re looking for more options, check out Lama Lama and Moulinet for drinks and live music starting at 4:00 pm.
With so much to explore and enjoy, you won’t want to miss out on any of the fun—just make sure you’re not late for dinner!

Transfers, Trains or Self Drive
As many know, there are several ways to get around the Alps, and getting to St Foy is no exception. These options include self-drive, airport transfers from Geneva, Lyon, or Grenoble, taking the train to Bourg St Maurice, or even a fly/drive combination. We will set up a WhatsApp group so that everyone can communicate about their arrivals and share transfer options. If you are arriving by train, Jem Rose or one of the team can pick you up, and if any other members of the group are driving, I am sure they will all be willing to help if needed.

Food and nights out
The Powder Mad invite-only weeks are designed for skiers of most levels, with an emphasis on fun and camaraderie. Throughout the week, you’ll be treated to five nights of exceptional dining experiences. Indulge in the flavours of the region as we enjoy nights out at some of the best local restaurants. These outings offer the perfect opportunity to savour authentic cuisine and connect with fellow adventurers.
One of the highlights of the week is our exclusive Powder Mad party on the slopes. This unforgettable night begins with a traditional fondue feast at one of our favourite spots, where you’ll be treated to delicious food and old-school dance tunes spun by our local DJ. As the evening progresses, we’ll take the last lift up the mountain for a thrilling skiing experience under the stars. Equipped with head torches and guided by ski patrol, we’ll make our way back to the village, creating a truly magical setting. Invitations are also extended to the local community, ensuring an inclusive event where you can mingle with locals and fellow skiers alike.
The skiing
The off-piste in and around St Foy is world renowned. Within the resort there are designated and patrolled off-piste areas to explore without a guide, gullies, bowls, and tree skiing. In addition to this there is a whole other world beyond the top two lifts of couloirs and bowls on the French Italian border. For those routes we use a local professional mountain guide. There are also some heli-drop options in Italy (minimum 4 person)… heli-skiing in France of course is banned. Guide costs and heli hire is not included in the price and a shared extra cost.
On-piste, there is a wide range from cruisey tracks through the trees to hidden mountain restaurants, long blues, steeper reds and of course some challenging blacks. St Foy is known as a hidden gem in the heart of the mega resorts and as such lift queues are practically non-existent. Lift tickets, food and drink are half the price! Due to our location, we can also explore the surrounding resorts of Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plagne and la Rosiere.

Common questions
Our base is at an altitude of 1,550m, and we can go skiing up to 3,200m. In January, the weather is colder, but we also experience beautiful crisp sunny days. To stay comfortable, it’s essential to have warm layers (avoid cotton), a decent jacket and trousers, hardwearing waterproof Après boots, a good beanie, and gloves.
We highly recommend bringing a day sack, sun cream, and sunglasses as the days may be cold, but the sun is intense at higher altitudes. If you plan to venture off-piste, please bring all your safety equipment, although you can also rent it locally. Don’t forget to pack a basic medical kit, just in case. For the evenings, casual warm clothing is suitable.
