Opening day in St Foy

December 16, 2024

It’s opening day in St Foy, and 25cm of the white stuff has just landed. It’s cold, it’s snowing, and the light is seriously flat - visibility is proper low. Perfect conditions to meet up with Warwick and dive into some trees.

Gear Check: Stay Dry, See Clear

On a day like this, having the right kit is crucial. We’re going to get wet, and seeing what’s in front of us is non-negotiable. Enter the Duel Vision Goggle from Panda Optics, rocking the Maize Yellow Low Light HD Lens and their 8-point magnetic lens-change system with integrated Guma®️ Anti-Fog Technology.

We tested Panda Optics last year, and we’re backing them 100%. These goggles perform as well as those outrageously priced models from the big-name brands - but without the eye-watering price tag.

Putting Them to the Test

To hit the trees, you’ve got to go above them first - and on a day like this, that’s where these goggles shine. The flat light was relentless, but the low-light lens delivered. Descending into the trees, they stayed crystal clear, with zero fogging.

Later, we met up with a few of the crew and decided to head higher, hoping for a break in the clouds. Spoiler: it didn’t happen. If it had, swapping to the Polarised Toric Lens would’ve been a breeze thanks to that magnetic lens system - but we stuck with the low-light lens and tackled the flat light head-on.

Verdict: Top-Tier Performance

We can’t recommend these goggles enough. They’re built to handle the worst the mountains can throw at you, without breaking the bank. That’s why we’ve made them available on our website shop.

See you in the snow!
