Meet Gillie Revill

Gillie Revill’s Powder Mad Legends Group
This season, Gillie Revill is really excited to be joining the Powder Mad team as a volunteer to help organise the inaugural ‘Legends’ trip. Gillie joins us from a recommendation from a fellow former rep for the Ski Club of Great Britain John Bennett. John has joined Powder Mad on multiple trips (Georgia, North Macedonia, St Foy) while Gillie still enjoys SCGB holidays, the Powder Mad trips promise a unique adventure, venturing more off the beaten track than other options.
Gillie has been skiing since the days of leather boots with laces and ungroomed pistes. Over the years, she has chased powder in Utah (working a season in Alta where the township mayor banned boarders) as well as Fernie, Banff, and of course Silverton in Colorado where only 100 skiers were allowed on ‘the hill’ each day and you had to boot up. Other memorable experiences include her skiing in Japan, where it snowed continuously for two weeks in Hokkaido, and a trip to Sochi a few years before the 2014 Olympic Games. In Sochi, despite plans for heli-skiing being thwarted by buried choppers, Gillie enjoyed riding an ancient wooden chair lift and cruising down through thick forests.
Introducing The Legends Group by Powder Mad
The Legends is a new group of skiers inspired by Gillie and run by Powder Mad. This group is designed for seasoned skiers who have spent a lifetime on the slopes and still crave the thrill of skiing the challenging lines they’ve enjoyed for many years.
However, make no mistake—The Legends are a group of very strong skiers. Many members have completed multiple seasons or worked as ski hosts for SCGB or similar organisations. Technically proficient and highly skilled, they might not keep up with the super fast powder hounds of today, but they cherish skiing with like-minded individuals in a similar age bracket.
There is no official minimum age requirement, though most members are retired or semi-retired. What unites them is a strong sense of adventure and spirit, a deep love for the mountains, and a desire to continue experiencing all that skiing has to offer.
Join The Legends and be part of a community that shares your passion and excitement for skiing, no matter your pace.
“With the passage of time, while the legs may not be as strong, the passion for gnarly backcountry skiing remains”.
Gillie Revill
This year, Gillie, Jem Rose and a group of Legends will be skiing in North Macedonia taking a Cat up the mountain and heading straight down whatever terrain is thrown at them, a big advantage of cat skiing is quick access to great terrain where you can either ski straight down or tour higher to get to areas the Cat can not reach
Join them if there’s room!
